OREANDA-NEWS. February 08, 2011. According to the information of the nuclear engineering company media office JSC Atomstroyexport is ready in 2011 to start the construction of Belene NPP in Bulgaria if all the necessary contractual documents are signed.

Insofar National Energy Company of Bulgaria and Atomstroyexport signed eleven addenda  to the agreement of 2006 on construction of Belene NPP, the validity of the latest of them expires on March 31, 2011.

" Today the signature of the twelfth addendum is expected for performance of the scopes of activities in 2011-2014. If the necessary contractual documents sign Atomstroyexport is prepared to commence the stage of active NPP construction this year. From the date of the first concrete casing the construction of the first unit of Belene NPP should take 59 months, the second unit is to be commissioned in another 12 months ", - stated in the press release.

The tender for construction of Belene NPP was announced by Bulgaria in 2005 and it was won by Atomstroyexport. In 2007 the Russian design for the nuclear power plant was recognized as meeting all the technical requirements set by EUR to the light water nuclear power plants of new generation.
