OREANDA-NEWS. February 08, 2011. An Expert Innovation Committee has been established at Rostelecom in an effort to create a uniform management system for innovative activity and R&D.  The Committee will be a collegial consultative body which will analyze the main development trends of advanced telecommunications technologies, key areas of industry innovations and R&D, as well as work out recommendations for selecting the company’s strategic areas of scientific and innovative activity.

A number of renowned Russian scientists and experts in venture investments have given their consent to become members of the Expert Innovation Committee:

I.R. Agamirzyan, general director of Russian Venture Company;

A.S. Adzhemov, rector of MTUSI, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences, professor;

V.N. Bondarik, deputy general director of Svyazinvest, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences;

A.V. Galitsky, managing partner of Almaz Capital Partners venture capital fund;

N.N. Kudryavtsev, rector of MFTI, correspondent member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ph.D. in physics and mathematics, professor;

I.A. Sokolov, head of the Institute of Computer Science under the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to Rostelecom CEO Alexander Provotorov, “the formation of the Expert Innovation Committee represents one stage in the overall innovative development program of the merged Rostelecom.

“Today our partners in the area of innovative activity and R&D include leading scientific research institutes, the industry’s largest institutes of higher education, global telecommunications companies, suppliers of equipment, Russian science parks and well-known venture funds.  The committee will allow Rostelecom, aside from resolving a number of applied problems facing any telecommunications company, to be more actively involved in the technological development of the industry per se”, Alexander Provotorov went on to say.
