OREANDA-NEWS. February 07, 2011. Atomstroyexport JSC (ZAO ASE), a SC Rosatom company, took part in the International Conference II Nuclear Power Asia 2011.

This year Hanoi   has hosted a traditional conference to promote cooperation in  nuclear power engineering  in developing  ASEAN  countries.  More  than 180  delegates of  90 organizations   including IEAE, International  Energy Agency, and  representatives of  Europe, Asia, America, and ASEAN  countries gathered in the capital of Vietnam to participate in the event.   Among those  present were the leading engineers, researchers and businessmen   from China, India, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia and  Singapore.

Along with  traditional approaches relating to  nuclear power technologies

and infrastructure  the conference  made a focus on financing and organizational issues of NPP construction.   The participants  showed a keen interest  in   JSC ASE’s  round-table discussions on  potential organizational  and financial models for NPP construction  including  a presentation of  Russia’s experience on  BOO/BOT models  and the prospects.

The deliberations  revealed  different perspectives of possible  financial schemes for NPP construction and their world-wide application. The conference also saw   such round-table discussions as         ‘Effect of Regulatory Structures on Financing  New NPPs Construction’,  ‘Technology and Knowledge Management’, and  ‘France’s  Experience in Nuclear Power Engineering and  Assistance to Countries  New in this Field’. But just the  Russian discussion  had been given  the most attention  of the delegates

especially  those from ASEAN countries. In particular, a very positive attitude towards  Russia’s  “round-table”  was displayed  by   Zamzam Jaafar, Head of Tenaga Nasional Berhard Energy Division, Malaysia,   which had been appointed  Head of newly established  Malaysian  Atomic Energy Corporation.

Supported by  JSC ASE’s  Representative Office in Hanoi, the conference witnessed   State Corporation Rosatom,  JSC ASE, and  Fuel Company TVEL’s presentations including text, graphic and audio-visual information of the  companies, their organization  structure, policy, production and services.

By all accounts, the conference Nuclear Power Asia 2011   became  a platform for exchanging views  among representatives of regional structures, being interested in development of nuclear power engineering in the countries of the region and  being involved in  decision making  in this field, and  key suppliers of nuclear technologies.  It afforded an opportunity   to have a first hand information of the successful  nuclear projects and practices of  the leading international  companies dealing with NPP construction.
