Chairman of IARO Got Acquainted with Aeroexpress
OREANDA-NEWS. February 07, 2011. Andrew Sharp, chairman of the IARO (International Air Rail Organization) visited Aeroexpress with an official visit from February 1-3, 2011.
As part of his visit Mr. Sharp saw Aeroexpress terminals for servicing passengers in Moscow airports and railway stations, as well as the company's modern trains. Particular attention was paid to the multi-functional Aeroexpress railway terminal in Sheremetyevo Airport, built in 2008.
LLC Aeroexpress management also acquainted Mr. Sharp with the company’s developmental projects in St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Kazan, and Sochi. Implementing these projects will make it possible to improve the transportation infrastructure in Russian cities and provide convenient transfers to passengers on the city center-airport routes visiting large events.
The chairman of the IARO had a lot of praise for the level of service, the quality of the company's trains, and the infrastructure of Aeroexpress terminals. Furthermore, in Mr. Sharp’s opinion, the innovational technologies being implemented by Aeroexpress for passengers to pay for their tickets (NFC and PayPass contactless mobile services), mutual tickets together with the Moscow Underground, as well as active development of Internet sales together with leading airlines and tourist agencies all put Aeroexpress among the leaders on the world market of intermodal railway operators.
LLC Aeroexpress has been a member of IARO since 2009. Today this influential organization unites 58 companies, among which are the world’s largest airports, railway operators, producers of technical equipment and research institutes in Europe, Asia, and North America. The IARO, based in London, supports an exchange of experience and distribution of new and more effective technologies among companies in the sphere of “city center-airport” intermodal railway connections throughout the world.
The Global AirRail Awards ceremony will take place in May, 2011, in Riga (Latvia). This competition among airport railway companies is organized by AirRail News. Andrew Sharp, the chairman of the IARO, is one of the members of the jury of the international competition. Aeroexpress is taking part in the Global AirRail Awards and is represented in four nominations: “Best joint project of the year – Railway operator-Airport,” “Best intermodal operator of the year,” “Best airport terminal,” and “Best marketing campaign”.
Mr. Sharp’s official visit to Moscow allowed him to get acquainted with the activity of the dynamically-growing Russian intermodal operator, while Aeroexpress was able to receive greater world recognition from the world intermodal community.
LLC Aeroexpress transported a company record number of 11.5 mln passengers in 2010, a 38% increased over 2009 totals. LLC Aeroexpress' quality management system suits the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2008 (used in the “Railway passenger transportation” segment).
