Moldova to Revise List of Companies not Subject to Privatization
OREANDA-NEWS. February 07, 2011. It was said at the press conference by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valerii Lazar speaking about the government’s plans regarding privatization this year.
He said it is early to speak about concrete enterprises which will be suggested to be denationalized but didn’t rule out such important public enterprises as Moldtelecom, Air Moldova, Banca de Economii, RED-Nord and RED Nord-Vest, Calea Ferata din Moldova and others. The Economy Minister said their activity and management efficiency would be analyzed first of all to see what the further prospects are.
Valerii Lazar said the current government has an ambitions program of denationalization of enterprises, transmission of their assets to private companies to enhance their work’s efficiency. According to him, the government will suggest different denationalization tools, with the public-private partnership, concession, trust management among them.
Valerii Lazar said there are also other instruments to ensure sustainable development and administration of such enterprises. The Economy Minister emphasized that there is a preliminary agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Financial Corporation, the World Bank for carrying out the pre-privatization preparation of the Moldovan enterprises.
