Vilnius Airport Analyses Passenger Satisfaction with Its Services
OREANDA-NEWS. February 07, 2011. A lot of travellers are satisfied with their experience at Vilnius Airport. According to a passenger survey conducted by a market analysis and research group RAIT UAB at the end of 2010, Vilnius Airport is convenient, small and cosy, it is easy to navigate, it offers fast servicing and it has attentive personnel, reported the press-centre of Vilnius Airport.
Passengers would use the services of Vilnius Airport more often if the airport offered more direct flights and cheaper airlines, the survey shows. Passengers are prone to spend money at Vilnius Airport, hence, there should be as many opportunities as possible to have a good time while going on a shopping spree, having a meal or taking advantage of entertainment facilities.
One passenger spent the average of LTL 48 at the airport last year and LTL 31 the year before.
In general, the services at the airport received very positive evaluations (the average of 8.53 points out of 10). The clarity of information system and the organisation of security screening procedures were given the highest points (9.2 points). The range of shops available at the airport and the menus of cafes received similar evaluations (8.1 and 7.9 points respectively); however, passengers would be willing to find a broader range of goods at the shops, a larger network of shops and more Lithuanian souvenirs.
Compared to 2009, cafes (menu, customer service) received better evaluations in 2010; however, passengers would still be willing to find more cafes, restaurants, more extensive cafe menus and more cafe and restaurant types (e.g., bistro, fast-food restaurants).
Due to additional time spent at the airport, passengers requested more ways of spending free time (newspapers, magazines, crosswords).
More than half of the passengers residing elsewhere in Lithuania (outside Vilnius) are usually brought to the airport by their friends, family members or they arrive by their own means of transport, hence, cheap parking lots are particularly relevant – this aspect received the lowest evaluations among all the services provided by Vilnius Airport.
Foreign residents or the residents of Vilnius City/District are more prone to use taxi services.
Non-Vilnius residents usually take advantage of public transport (minibus share taxis, trains). Only a small part of passengers, who are not Vilnius residents, uses taxi services.
Compared to 2009, the number of passengers on work/business trips considerably increased (46 in 2010, 38 in 2009). Nearly a quarter of the airport passengers travelled for personal reasons. The same number of passengers travelled for leisure or sightseeing purposes. The number of travellers for educational reasons relatively decreased.
The most popular routes are from Vilnius to Frankfurt (12% of respondents), Copenhagen (11%), Dublin (9%), Riga (8%) and Kiev (8%), the survey shows. London, Milan, Hamburg and Paris took the lead in terms of the most popular direct flights. The respondents also expressed their wish for direct flights to New York, Berlin, Barcelona, Rome and Amsterdam.
