UNISTREAM Turnover Up 6% to USD3,92 bn in 2010
OREANDA-NEWS. February 03, 2011. The turnover of the international money transfer UNISTREAM demonstrated a 5.9 percent growth to reach USD 3.92 billion in 2010. In 2009 the system processed transactions worth USD 3.7 billion, reported the press-centre of UNISTREAM.
In the second half of 2010 the transaction volume amounted to USD 2.34 billion, an 8.8-percent increase compared to the same period of 2009.
Summarizing the activities in the past year, the experts of the system indicated that in the fourth quarter of 2010 UNISTREAM handled transactions totaling USD 1.15 billion.
In the year 2010 the system processed more than 6 million 100 thousand transactions against 5 million 840 thousand a year earlier.
UNISTREAM entered the year 2011 operating over 200 000 service points (including the terminal component) in nearly 100 countries. Number of financial institutions - partners has reached 350.
Commenting on the successful performance in 2010, the president of UNISTREAM, Souren Hayriyan said that major efforts were directed at implementation of the projects to create the necessary basis for building up client portfolio and rapid growth in all indicators in 2011.
"Intensive development of [our] network took place in Russia, CIS and the main international corridors. Promoting own networks in Europe through affiliated companies in the UK, Cyprus, Greece and Germany is especially worth mentioning. In Asia the system successfully realized large-scale integration projects in India, China, Nepal and others countries, "said Hayriyan.
He also highlighted projects, seriously improving customer service quality, efficiency and usability of the system.
The UNISTREAM president reported that in 2010 the system diligently worked on development of the options such as transfers to customers’ bank accounts, promoted the unique combination of address and non-address remittances, including introduction of non-address option in its terminal network.
He said the system succeeded in implementation of mobile transfers together with two major national cellular operators.
"We were the first to introduce the Unified Customer Identity Card in the form it is applied today. The card has brought up the market to a different and higher quality level,” Hayriyan said.
He reported within just a 3-month period 300,000 people in different countries became card-holders.
The company’s president stated that the system will continue implementation of all projects to step up its activity in all major regions and core aspects in 2011.
