Economy of Moldova Recovers at Good Rates, IMF
OREANDA-NEWS. February 03, 2011. It was said by the head of the International Monetary Fund assessment mission which arrived in Moldova Nikolay Gueorguiev. He said this economic growth is explained by the government’s policy and is a basis for further progress in the country.
The IMF mission’s head congratulated the Moldovan government with the macroeconomic indicators achieved in 2010 and called on the country’s authorities to continue the reforms stressing that the IMF is ready to provide all necessary assistance to the country.
In his turn, Prime Minister Vladimir FIlat welcomed the mission saying that the current situation in the country is much better than the one in late 2009 when he had the first meeting with the mission’s members.
He underlined that the Cabinet’s actions in 2011 are aimed at continuation of the reforms started earlier and are based on the Memorandum on economic and financial policy of the government and the National Bank of Moldova earlier signed with the IMF, as well as the negotiations with the IMF on the Agreement on association. Vladimir Filat said the Moldovan government had fulfilled all obligations undertaken earlier to the IMF in 2010.
