OREANDA-NEWS. February 03, 2011. Activists of Samarkand region held meeting dedicated to the results of socioeconomic development of the region in 2010 and implementation of foreground priorities set in the speech of the President Islam Karimov at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The growth of gross regional product made up 13.6%. The industrial production grew by 20%, agriculture – by 7.6%, construction and contractual works – by 45.1%, retail trade turnover – by 19.9%, services – by 18.6%, paid services – by 13.3%.

Overall 212 projects were implemented within the framework of industrial production development program, investments worth 64.9 billion soums and .1 million were utilized, 4,370 new workplaces were created.

Forecasted indexes of localization program were fulfilled for 100.5%, the products worth 264.3 billion soums were manufactured.

As a result of preferences and benefits, the share of small business and private entrepreneurship in gross regional product made up 73.6% during the reported period.

Impressive results were achieved in agriculture. Thus, 17 greenhouses, 31 poultry farms, 19 fish farms, 10 bee farms, 7 meat processing and 6 milk processing enterprises were set in operation. Moreover, 43.2 billion soums were utilized for the construction of 650 modern houses in rural area.

Additionally, 92,390 new workplaces were created as a result of implementation of the employment program. Over 76,600 workplaces were opened in rural area.
