Russia Forum 2011: Opening Discussion of Russian and World Economies
OREANDA-NEWS. February 02, 2011. The Russia Forum 2011, the Troika Dialog-hosted leading annual investors' conference focusing on Russian and CIS markets now in its fourth year, begins on February 2. Together with the World Economic Forum in Davos and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, The Russia Forum ranks among the most widely-respected discussion platforms closely followed by members of the world business community. The main topic at this year's Forum will be the changing paradigm of the world and Russian economies, as well as the government's role in this process.
In the wake of the financial crisis, the world economy is returning to normal, with many countries winding down stimulus programs and cutting fiscal spending, although recent events indicate that long-sought economic stability is still a ways off. What are the drivers of global growth existing today? Will there be new financial centers? What is happening in the Russian economy and what are its prospects? How strongly will the spending cuts in the state sectors of the majority of developed countries affect world economic recovery? What can the state-private partnerships give to investors, and how promising is the upcoming privatization in Russia? While discussing these and many other questions, leading businessmen, investors, and the heads of key ministries and agencies will outline the rules of the game.
A strong contingent of "star" speakers whose opinions shape the financial and economic policies of numerous countries has become the business card of The Russia Forum. Such participants at this year's Forum will once again include government representatives, leading economists, CEOs of major corporations and representatives of the investment community. In particular, participating in the Forum will be Alexei Kudrin, Deputy Prime minister, Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation; Arkady Dvorkovich, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation; Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow; Nassim Taleb, Distinguished Professor, New York University Polytechnic Institute; Nouriel Roubini, Professor of Economics, NYU’s Stern School of Business; Michael Milken, Chairman of the Milken Institute; Lawrence H. Summers, former Chief Economic Advisor to the U.S. President and Charles W. Eliot University Professor, Harvard Kennedy School; Alexander Izosimov, President and Chief Executive Officer, VimpelCom Ltd; Vadim Morozov, First Vice-President, Russian Railways; Mikhail Kusnirovich, President and CEO, Bosco di Ciliegi; Peter Hambro, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Petropavlovsk PLC, and many more. The complete list of Forum participants is available on the event's official site.
As in previous years, The Russia Forum will be a major media event.
