NWPC and Kirovsk Administration Sign Cooperation Agreement
OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2011. NWPC and the Kirovsk Administration entered into an agreement on social economic partnership in 2011.
The agreement is designed to improve cooperation between the parties in furthering the social and economic development of Kirovsk and its subordinate territory. In light of NWPC interests as investor in the Oleniy Ruchey apatite-nepheline mine construction project, the 2011 events schedule mainly focuses on Koashva settlement, located near the site.
NWPC management expressed the company’s appreciation for the Kirovsk Administration’s successful implementation of last year’s agreement and its support in developing a new agreement for 2011, which success was achieved by joint efforts of NWPC experts and the city administration.
The Kirovsk administration expressed its readiness to render all possible legal assistance and support to expedite construction of the Oleniy Ruchey mine. The city also reported that NWPC made all scheduled disbursements to finance activities under the 2010 agreement, and that the only difficulties were caused by the contractor tender system, with certain contractors failing to perform quality work to deadline.
The parties agreed to complete a joint report on work already accomplished under previous agreements.
Under the 2011 agreement, NWPC undertakes to finance a number of activities, including repairs to social, cultural and economic infrastructure, purchases of equipment for use in such facilities, reconstruction of residential buildings in Koashva settlement, improvements to recreation areas, sports fields and playgrounds, construction of an automobile road in Kirovsk and the design of a new access road leading into the city. NWPC will also finance the acquisition and installation of a video surveillance system in Koashva settlement, as well as equipment for the centre that manages patrol units for the Inter-Municipal Apatitskoe Department of Internal Affairs. All told, NWPC will invest RUB 31 mn in local social and economic development in 2011.
The parties executed the agreement in hopes of accelerating the mine construction, which will boost local tax revenue and create new jobs.
