OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2011.  A delegation of Astrakhan Region of the Russian Federation led by Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations Denis Afanasyev is on a visit to the Turkmen capital.

A substantive exchange of views on the prospects for further development of trade and economic relations, which had all requisites for intensification, took place during the meetings held at the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations and the Ministry of Economy and Development. Focusing on the existing profound potential to strengthen cooperation, the guests underscored the willingness of Astrakhan partners to participate in ongoing national and regional projects in Turkmenistan, including the opening of a trade house of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan.

The discussion of the ways to expand humanitarian cooperation was continued during the meeting at the Ministry of Culture and Broadcasting. It was noted that joint humanitarian actions, in particular the days of culture would contribute strengthening the ties of friendship between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.

During the visit the members of the Astrakhan delegation will conduct a series of bilateral talks, including at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to consider the approaches to enhancing further fruitful cooperation between our country and Astrakhan Region of the Russian Federation in the context of top level agreements between Turkmenistan and Russia and new opportunities to step up mutually advantageous regional contacts.
