TMK Ships Pipes for Portovaya Compressor Station for Nord Stream
OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2011. TMK, one of the world’s leading oil and gas steel pipe producers, has sent a shipment of seamless pipes to Gazprom for construction of the Portovaya compressor station (CS). Unique in its technical and operating characteristics, the Portovaya CS will be a starting point for gas supplies via the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
TMK pipes will be used to assemble a manifold pipeline that connects separate units of the Portovaya CS, including gas compressor units, a gas treatment facility, etc.
It is the first time TMK’s plants have produced pipes with such strength properties required by Gazprom’s special technical specifications. One of the most important of these is the customer’s stringent requirements for the pipes’ surface and steel quality.
TMK was the only pipe company ready to manufacture these specialized products for such a complex and high-tech facility. The compressor station will secure gas transmission across the Nord Stream gas pipeline, which is designed to export Russian natural gas to Europe.
