OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2011. CJSC Belarusian Potash Company has contracted potash supplies to China at USD 400 per tonne, the company said in a statement.

The company will deliver 600,000 tonnes of potassium chloride to China in the first half of 2011, including a 120,000-tonne option.

The Chinese importers of Belarusian mineral fertilizers are Sinochem and CNAMPGC.

In 2010, the contract between BPC and Chinese consumers envisaged supplies of 1.2 million tonnes of potash at USD 350 per tonne.

In 2009, there were no deliveries of Belarusian potash to China.

According to BPC General Director Vladimir Nikolayenko, the change to semi-annual contracts will enable market players to respond to changes in the market situation with additional flexibility.

BPC, headquartered in Minsk, is the exclusive exporter of potash fertilizers produced by OJSC Uralkali and OJSC Belaruskali. The two companies hold respective stakes of 50% and 45% in BPC, and Belarusian Railway controls 5%.
