GLONASS to Reach Cm-Accuracy
OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2011. GLONASS constellation to be completed in 2011, to be enlarged with new-generation Glonass-K spacecraft, GLONASS General Designer, Russian Space Systems DG Yury Urlichich stated.
Urlichich reminded that 24 spacecraft in 3 orbital planes at the altitudes of 19100 km are to form GLONASS constellation to provide global coverage. Currently, there are 21 satellites in Russian Global Navigation System.
According to him, accuracy of navigation signals is to reach cm-quality in the nearest future. Urlichich added that only Russia and the USA have their own navigation systems.
