Uzbekistan to Direct Nearly Billion for Infrastructure Development
OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2011. Creation of highly effective national economy is a complex tax calling for not only assiduous everyday work but also a range of perspective measures. For this purpose President of Uzbekistan in December 2010 signed a Resolution "On accelerated development of infrastructure, transport and communication construction in 2011-2015".
In accordance with the Resolution, main priorities for the development of infrastructure, transport and communication construction are:
- complex and advanced development and construction of transport communications, modern telecommunication systems, objects of engineering infrastructure on the basis of expansion of scales of foreign and domestic financing, modern technologies, renewal of construction and industrial production complexes;
- accelerated implementation of projects on creation of single national automobile transport system connection all regions of the country, expansion of construction and reconstruction of dual-dual highways forming Uzbek national highway, their provision with modern cement and asphaltic concrete covering meeting high international standards;
- accelerated development and modernization of railroad transport, railroad reconstruction, arrangement and launch of high speed railroad highway Tashkent-Samarkand, electrification of railroad sections in Bukhara and Karshi;
- further development and strengthening of air transportations material and technical basis due to radical air fleet renewal with modern comfortable Boeing and Airbus airplanes, organization of their servicing, construction and reconstruction of airports in Tashkent, their regional centers, increase of freight transportation, including transit transportations, increase of the quality and level and safety of passenger transportations;
- modernization and accelerated development of modern telecommunication networks, expansion of mobile network and broadband data transfer, gradual transfer to digital TV;
- further improvement of the system of transportation organization and management, creation of modern effective multipurpose transport-transit infrastructure meeting international modern requirements, ensuring conjugacy in rendering transport services by different types of transport – car, railroad, air, strengthening material and technical basis of intermodal logistics centers in Angren and Navoi airport;
- formation of new transport corridors ensuring shortest outlets to international transport communications and increase of transit transportations, expansion of access to regional and world markets, increase of efficiency of export potential and local domestic market;
- road infrastructure construction and reconstruction along national highway and railroads, creation of conditions meeting international standards, creation of new workplaces and increase of population employment;
- timely purchase of additional modern road equipment for Uzbek national highway reconstruction and development, introduction of modern construction technologies;
- engineering and communication networks construction, modernization and reconstruction in rural areas (water systems, sewerage systems, electrification), increase of the quality of water and energy supply of business entities and population;
- gradual reduction of production expenses and cost at construction and maintenance of objects of production infrastructure, transport and communications by introducing modern energy saving technologies, economical use of raw materials and energy resources.
To ensure implementation of measures envisaged by Resolution, it is expected to utilize investments worth .93 billion. It is planned to invest them into construction and reconstruction of highways forming Uzbek national highway, railroad modernization, intermodal logistics centers' park renewal, development of rail infrastructure.
Overall, 14,395 new workplaces will be created within the framework of the program for accelerated development of infrastructure, transport and communication construction in 2011-2015.
