Ukraine Allocates UAH12 bn for Social Protection of "Chernobyltsi"
OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2011. This year the Government will allocate over 12 billion UAH for the social protection of "chernobyltsi" and citizens that have suffered from the catastrophe at the Chernobyl atom craft station. The Prime Minister announced that at a session of Organizing committee for marking the 25th anniversary of Chernobyl catastrophe.
"Despite our limited possibilities we will allocate over 12 billion UAH for the social protection and pensions of chernobyltsi. It’s a giant resource for us," observed Mykola Azarov. He added that additional payments for the work at radioactively contaminated territories would be increased by 170 million UAH, more that 61 million UAH would allocated for compensations paid to the families with kids and free food for the affected children, the monthly monetary help would be increased by 72 million UAH, payments in case of temporary inability to work woul grow almost 2,5 times.
Besides the Government has allocated 216,5 million UAH for preparation and carrying out events in connection with the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl catastrophe.
In particular, Mykola Azarov instructed the local authorities to organize a constant reception of citizens affected by the Chernobyl in order to directly know their problem that could be solved by the authorities. "Our actions should not be limited by laying the wrists down to the monuments and organizing rallies. First of all we should think of those people who took part at the elimination of the Chernobyl effects, of all those injured that for different reasons haven’t received the promised yet," Mykola Azarov summed up.
