Government of Moldova to Discuss Fraud in Area of Real Estate
OREANDA-NEWS. January 21, 2011. The government of Moldova will discuss ways of solution of problems of citizens, victims of fraud in the area of real estate. It was said by Prime Minister Vladimir Filat. He said the sitting would be held next week with representatives of the ministries of regional development and construction, justice, home affairs, General Office of Public Prosecutor and Supreme Magistracy Council participating.
The full information about the situation in this area will be presented and ways of the problem settlement will be found. Prime Minister underlined that over 2 thousand citizens were victims of fraudulent building firms in Moldova. They paid for dwelling but can’t move into their apartments waiting for about 200 houses to be completed. Vladimir Filat said this situation started back in 2005-2008.
He met a group of citizens claiming that they had also been victims of fraud in real estate. Their representative Galina Afanas said she and 200 more people had signed investment contracts on building of houses with NourCO ltd. She said investors had fulfilled their contract obligations and paid by installments while the building company failed to meet its commitments. Construction of the house was supposed to be completed in 2009, however, ho building words have been carried out by now.
The company is currently in the financial insolvency process. Prime Minister said an extended sitting would be held for serious examination of this and other case. “We need to find a solution and help people”, he said.
