Passenger Traffic on Aeroexpress Trains Increased by 38% in 2010
OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2011. A record number of 11 million 463 thousand passengers used Aeroexpress services in 2010. This is an increase of 38% over the 2009 result.
Aeroexpress showed positive growth in passenger traffic on all of its main routes in 2010. The breakdown in passengers by route is as follows (percentage increase over 2009):
• Paveletsky Train Station – Domodedovo Airport – 4 million 896 thousand passengers (+20%),
• Belorussky Train Station – Sheremetyevo Airport – 3 million 540 thousand passengers (+135%),
• Kievsky Train Station – Vnukovo Airport – 1 million 710 thousand passengers (+39%);
• Savyolovsky Train Station – city of Lobnya – 1 million 317 thousand people (-11%).
Comfortable Aeroexpress trains are more and more in demand as a way for passengers to get from the center of Moscow to the Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Sheremetyevo Airports and back when the city’s roads are completely congested. The company’s share of the intermodal transportation market increased from 17% to 20% in 2010.
Significant growth in passenger transportation on Aeroexpress trains resulted from purposeful measures taken by LLC Aeroexpress together with its business partners at improving the quality of services provided. These business partners include JSC Russian Railways, the Moscow Railway, the Moscow Subway System, the airports of the Moscow Aviation Grid (MAG) and leading airlines.
The implementation of a schedule with frequent train trips, the introduction of new services and re-equipping of train stock, development of sales methods, and constant feedback from clients all helped Aeroexpress to work effectively throughout the year and complete the year with significant growth in its performance indicators.
A total of 553 million rubles (USD 18.4 million) was invested into re-equipping train wagons and buying new AERO train stock in 2010, as well as into development of automated system of sales and transportation control.
Aeroexpress transported its highest-ever number of passengers in July, 2010. A total of 1 million 139 thousand people used the company's services that month, which is a 62% increase over the analogous period of 2009.
Aeroexpress transported a total of 952 thousand passengers in December, 2010, which is 29% more than in December, 2009. Furthermore, Aeroexpress’ share of total intermodal transportation in December of 2010 was a company record 26%.
Today Aeroexpress conducts 206 trips per day, ensuring fast, comfortable, and safe delivery of passengers to Moscow's airports and back by railway. Aeroexpress ensures that its trains run on time, with 99.5% of all trips running on schedule.
Aeroexpress solves important tasks of developing transportation infrastructure in Moscow, thereby lightening the load on the city’s main car routes and improving the ecological situation in the capital. The company plans to continue to keep its tendency of growth in key performance indicators by improving its service technologies, as well as through active development of direct and agent sales channels.
