OREANDA-NEWS. January 19, 2011. Doctor Web informs users about changes done to the Dr.Web product line for home PCs running Windows. Now two personal Dr.Web anti-viruses for Windows are available and each of them incorporates a firewall that can be enabled by a user (if covered by the purchased license). In addition, the products have been enhanced with a new component, the Dr.Web for MS Outlook plugin.

The changes make choosing a desired level of protection easier.

Dr.Web for MS Outlook implemented in Dr.Web Enterprise Suite 6.0 earlier, makes working with e-mails more secure. It ensures anti-virus and anti-spam scan of mail attachments and scanning of messages received over an SSL connection.

Now e-mails sent over the encrypted protocol MAPI used to exchange data between the MS Exchange server and MS Outlook mail client are analyzed by Dr.Web before malicious code (if present) gets a chance to damage the system in any way.

Users can enable Dr.Web for MS Outlook, configure its parameters and collection of statistics in the Dr.Web Anti-virus tab of Microsoft Outlook.

Depending on the settings detected objects can be cured, deleted or isolated in the quarantine.

Minor improvements have been done to the agent.

Users of personal Dr.Web anti-viruses for Windows need to download the updated distributions of Dr.Web Security Space Pro and Dr.Web Anti-virus Pro for the changes to take effect.

Caution! If you use a Dr.Web for Windows without the firewall. you need to purchase or renew a license for Dr.Web Security Space (the title of the boxed product is Dr.Web Security Space Pro), Dr.Web Anti-virus (the title on the box is Dr.Web Anti-virus Pro) or for Dr.Web Desktop Security Suite.
