Gubkin Mine Implements New Technology
OREANDA-NEWS. January 19, 2011. A new technology for delivering insulating bulkhead components underground is being introduced at the Gubkin mine. Work has now been completed to drill a well, reaching from the surface to a the level of 125 meters, that is intended for the stowing operations of the Stowing Operations Department.
Now, the tunnelers of zone No. 1 must complete a special excavation operation to open the well directly at the reference level. Once that happens, concrete and breakstone will be lowered along the well, for use during the erection of insulating bulkheads, which is more efficient than delivering them through the mineshaft itself.
