Azerbaijan Increased Cotton Export 23 Fold in December, 2010
OREANDA-NEWS. January 17, 2011. In December 2010 Azerbaijan increased cotton export 23.3 fold against November.
The Azerbaijan State Customs Committee (SCC) informs that in 2010 country’s cotton export totaled 30.24% of 2009 export index and earnings from its export dropped by 78.5%.
Over 2010 Azerbaijan exported 3738.2 tons of cotton that made up 0.02% (USD 21.32 bn) of country’s overall export (USD 5.249 million).
In 2010 average export price totaled USD 703.33 per ton.
At that, in December cotton export totaled 1451.4 tons for USD 2.629 million at average price of USD 1.811 against 62.4 tons for USD 121,700 at average price of USD 1,950 in November, 273.9 tons for USD 196,300 at average price of USD 716.68 in October and 980.9 tons for USD 1.2 million at price of USD 1,266.49/ton in March.
In January 2010 when cotton export reached 367044% of export for January 2009 and earning from its export rose 5.432-fold, 453.8 tons of cotton was exported for USD 571,200 tons at the price of USD 1,258.772 per ton.
In 2009, the country exported 17,371 tons of cotton for USD 17.358 million that made up 119.27% of production export indices over 2008. In December, export totaled 795.9 tons for USD 890,900.
In 2009 cotton export from the country made up 0.12% of total export of Azerbaijan.
In 2009, Azerbaijan exported cotton on average at price USD 999.25 per ton but in December the price was USD 1,119.36.
