OREANDA-NEWS. January 17, 2011. It will be recalled that drilling of the exploration well #8 to be operated by SOCAR/UMID LLC has been completed at Umid perspective gas and condensate structure. Drilling works at the well were started in September 2009. In November 2010, the drilling reached 6,006 meters depth from eight horizon and commercial gas and condensate stocks were discovered there. This achievement encouraged the drillers. At present, they prepare for drilling of exploration well #10. The drilling rig will be slipped by 3.3 meters.

Drilling works will be launched after the construction and installation works are completed. Drilling of the new well with the project depth of 6,500 meters is to complete in late 2011-early 2012. It is to mention that totally six wells are planned to be drilled from Umid platform. The daily output of each well is expected to make up 1-1.5 million cubic meters of gas and 300-350 tons of condensate.

Drilling works are carried out by Sahil Drilling Works Office of Complex Drilling Works Trust. The Office is specialized on conducting drilling works at deep wells by applying the cutting-edge technology and techniques. The three drilling rigs of the enterprise are commissioned at oil and gas fields operated by Narimanov OGPD. Drilling works are conducted by means of techniques and technologies meeting the modern standards which enable fast and safe drilling.
