OREANDA-NEWS. January 14, 2011. Belarus plans to start offering two-year bonds in Russia worth 7 billion Russian rubles, Sberbank, one of the arrangers of the offering, said in a statement.

Belarus started book building for the bond issue on Thursday.

The rate of the first coupon for Belarus’ 7 billion Russian ruble 2-year bond issue, which is the country’s first bond issue in Russia, had been set at 8.75%.

Belarus earlier postponed its first bond offering in Russia for an indefinite period.

Twenty-nine investors had originally made bids totaling 9.95 billion rubles since November 10, when Belarus started book building for the bond issue.

In October, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed a ruling allowing the country’s government to offer bonds worth up to 15 billion Russian rubles in Russia in 2010–2011.
