AeroSvit Will Be First Next-Generation 737-900ER Operator
OREANDA-NEWS. January 13, 2011. AeroSvit-Ukrainian Airlines and Boeing have finalized an arrangement for 4 Next-Generation 737-900ER (extended range) airplanes, which is valued at USD 330 mln at average list prices. The arrangement provides Boeing's technical, training and marketing support to AeroSvit while setting into operation aircraft, which are to be taken in the operational lease in 2013-2014.
"Acquiring four 737-900ER's in addition to 7 Next-Generation B737-800's purchase, contracted in 2007, will allow the airline to secure its medium haul fleet renewal due to aircraft with improved efficiency”, said Gregory Gurtovoy, Chairman of AeroSvit Ukrainian Airlines. “We will also offer even more environmentally-responsible and comfortable journey to our passengers. We are highly appreciative of Boeing's supportive approach to us – the largest Ukrainian customer."
Economic benefits, higher capacity and longer range consistently demonstrated by the Next-Generation 737 will be a proper solution for AeroSvit’s plans to develop its network model of carriages and to secure its leadership position in Ukraine and key international markets. "Current arrangement for 737-900ERs underscores AeroSvit's confidence in the superior capability, reliability and efficiency of Boeing Airplanes. AeroSvit will also become the first East-European operator of 737-900ER jetliner, which will support its strategic plan to grow operations in concert with the improving global and Ukrainian economies."
AeroSvit’s 737s will be the first in Ukraine to be delivered with all-new 737 Boeing Sky Interior. In addition to the new design, AeroSvit will also benefit from the Next-Generation 737s with yet another 2 percent reduction in fuel consumption through various airframe and engine improvements.
All 11 new Next Generation 737s (4 B737-900ER and 7 B737-800) will be delivered to AeroSvit directly from Boeing production facilities. The first 2 737-800 scheduled for delivery in March-April 2012 will be also just in-time contribution to the Airline's operations in light of the European Soccer Tournament in Summer 2012 to be jointly hosted by Ukraine and Poland.
