OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2011. Government will intensify the negotiations with Russia and the European Union on modernization of the national gas transportation system. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov declared at a meeting with the Member of the European Commission for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule.

"The Government will continue to try to make progress in negotiations with Russian Federation concerning gas supplies and transit. I hope for more active position of the EU in this issue. Everybody should be aware that Russia produces gas, the EU consumes it, and Ukraine delivers Russian gas to consumers" - Mykola Azarov emphasized.
