OREANDA-NEWS. January 06, 2011. Last year Azerbaijan’s ICT and mail sector earnings increased by 31.3% up to 1.158 billion manat.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan reported that in 2010 the rate of domestic mobile phone subscribers grew by 1,342,880 numbers up to 9.1 million subscribers that contributed to 100% mobile penetration in the country.

During the reported period broadcasting of digital television started in Baku and Sumgait, Absheron Peninsula, Ganja, Lerik region and surrounding areas, and as a result, country’s digital broadcasting was organized by approximately 50%.

Over the past year Internet prices in the country were cut to 50%, and as a result, tariffs for Internet services in Azerbaijan are much lower than the corresponding figures in other countries of the region.

Due to National Computer Project and some other measures, the quantity of computers per 100 people in the country reached 14, Internet users – 45, broadband users in the global network - 12.
