OREANDA-NEWS. December 31, 2010. I.T. Co. has successfully implemented DIRECTUM electronic document management system at JSC “Soda”, one of the largest Russia chemical enterprises. Currently, the system, which significantly reduces time required for document processing, has more than 500 users.

JSC "Soda" is one of the largest enterprises of the chemical industry in Russia. The company comprises facilities that manufacture more than 35 chemical products and household chemical goods. In order to maintain a high standard of performance and competitive level of production, JSC "Soda" develops and implements investment and innovative programs. The decision to implement electronic document management system (EDMS) was carefully considered: practically all systems available on the market were examined and evaluated in terms of various parameters. As a result, DIRECTUM was chosen as the system which best meets JSC "Soda" requirements.

Among the main objectives of the project was workflow acceleration, enhancement of interaction between employees, streamlining of control over decision-making processes and workflow arrangement in general.

During the first stage of the project, at the beginning of 2009, the following business processes were automated: registration of inbound documents and adoption of resolutions, management of outbound documents and agreements, as well as approval of agreements. Later in 2010 I.T. Co. expanded the EDMS functionality. In particular, I.T. Co. automated the management of office memos, orders and directives, as well as preparation and handling of meetings. Remote users got an opportunity to access documents via the Internet.

Additionally, during the project an electronic archive with database and file storage services was implemented to store documentation. In this regard, a shared resource was created in the system to allow every user to store and grant access rights to particular documents. To facilitate the search of an electronic document by its paper copy, the fast search DIRECTUM RapID technology, which involves bar code application on paper documents, is used.
