OREANDA-NEWS. December 24, 2010. JSC Atomstroyexport (JSC ASE) is holding a Forum of Suppliers on the Akkuyu NPP construction project in Istanbul (Turkey) with the support of State Corporation Rosatom. The establishment of stable and long lasting ties with the local industry, singling out of perspective avenues of cooperation within the scope of the erection of the first NPP in Turkey became one of the priority tasks of the Forum.

Igor Sechin, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia, Taner Yildiz, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Turkish Republic, Alexander Lokshin, Deputy Director General of SC Rosatom, Alexander Glukhov, Acting President of JSC Atomstroyexport et al. took part in the Forum.

- We highly appreciate the partnership relations between our countries and are very glad that one more field for mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Turkey is added, - Alexander Lokshin stated. – Russia represented by State Corporation Rosatom is ready to render  comprehensive support to our partners in every aspect of the development of this new for Turkey field: nuclear power engineering. The next stage of our joint activity in 2011 shall be the signing of contracts

for NPP construction, issuance of the required regulatory and licensing documents, stepping up of the site prospective works.

The agreement between Russia and Turkey on the issues of mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of nuclear power engineering is entering the practical realization phase. On December 13 the Ankara registration of a Project company, which is to be the main Customer of the works on the construction and operation of Akkuyu NPP, was announced. It comprised 5 founders – JSC Atomstroyexport, the General Contractor,  the Rosenergoatom concern, OJSC Inter RAO UES and two more organizations: Atomtechenergo and Atomenergoremont.

In his turn Alexander Glukhov, Head of JSC Atomstroyexport noted that it is planned to create a competitively free and transparent environment for our business cooperation.

-  I am glam that representatives of many Turkish companies motivated to employ their potential in the creation of the national nuclear branch are present at the Forum of Suppliers, - Alexander Glukhov stated. - In the long term under the extension and deepening of cooperation JSC Atomstroyexport is not excluding

the possibility of enlisting Turkish partners for the realization of its projects in the third countries, - Alexander Glukhov said.

The Forum participants discussed the urgent issues of localization of the machine building production and technical facilities on the Turkish territory, the cooperation format, the specific requirements to subcontractor organizations. It was noted that localization is the requirement of the contemporary global market of the power engineering facilities construction. As the Atomstroyexport speakers stressed the Russian company is reckoning on close cooperation with the Turkish companies in the field of supply of equipment, works and services.

On May 12, 2010 in Ankara in the course of the visit of the RF President Dmitry Medvedyev an Agreement between the Government of the RF and the Government of the Turkish Republic was signed on the cooperation in the field of the construction and operation of a NPP at the Akkuyu site in the Turkish Republic. JSC Atomstroyexport is to act as General Contractor on NPP erection. The first Turkish national NPP project comprises four reactors of the WWER type. The capacity of each unit of the Turkish NPP is to amount to 1200 МW. It is planned to realize the construction of the first Turkish NPP on the BOO basis ("build-own-operate".)  The construction of a four power unit NPP in Turkey is to enable to produce about 35 billion kWh of electric power a year.
