Living Wage Increased 20,2% in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. December 20, 2010. Living wage in Moldova in the third quarter totaled 1,305.1 leis, up 20.2% against the same period last year. At the same time, it reduced in comparison with the second quarter this year by 5.8%, according to the National Statistics Office. The living wage for able-bodied citizens was 1,377.2 leis, particularly, for men – 1,448.3 leis. For pensioners it was 1120.4 leis (85.8% of the average indicator for the whole population).
The living wage for children averaged 1,210.8 leis, varying between 501.8 leis for children younger than one year old to 1,355 leis for kids at the age of 7-16. The average monthly incomes of the Moldovan population totaled 1,337.3 leis per man, or 102.5% of the living wage against 110% a year earlier.
The average monthly salary of a worker in the III quarter this year amounted to 3,030.1 leis, up 9.4% against the same period last year and exceeding the living wage of the able-bodied citizens 2.2 times. The average pension as of October 1 this year amounted to 809.4 leis, covering the living wage by only 72.2% against 83.4% in the third quarter of 2009.
