Heads of FAS and Austrian Competition Authority Held Meeting
OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2010. In course of FAS Russia’s delegation visit to Vienna (Austria), where the Head of FAS Russia Igor Artemyev had a meeting with the General Director of the Austrian Federal Competition Authority, Mr. Theodor Tanner, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
At the meeting there were also present Stats-Secretary, Deputy Head of FAS Russia Andrey Tsarikovsky, the Head of the FAS Russia’s Department for International Economic Cooperation, Ms Lesya Davydova, and the Head of the FAS Russia’s Administrative Department, Mr. Pavel Zaborschikov.
Igor Artemyev informed Mr. Tanner about the changes in the Russian antimonopoly law, including the “third antimonopoly package”. The Head of FAS Russia also talked about the outcome of the cases investigated by FAS Russia against large oil companies and network service providers.
In his turn, Mr. Theodor Tanner outlined the results of a recent sugar cartel investigation and analysis of retail prices for liquid fuel. The General Director of the Austrian Federal Competition Authority described their efforts to control mergers of cement producers and current activities in the field of competition policy.
Apart from discussing current affairs and investigations completed by the antimonopoly authorities in Russia and Austria, the top executives covered the issues of cooperation, including further participation of representatives of the Austrian Competition Authority in ICAP (the CIS Interstate Council for Antimonopoly Policy) sessions, and investigations of antimonopoly violations carried out by the Headquarters for Joint Investigations. Representatives of the Russian antimonopoly authority will be involved in the events of Marchfeld Competition Forum, organized with participation of the Austrian Federal Competition Authority.
