Germany to Provide EUR6,5 mn Financial Aid to Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2010. It is stipulated by the document on cooperation between governments of Moldova and Germany signed today by the State Minister of Moldova Victor Bodiu and Head of the Department of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany Friedel Eggelmeier, as well as by the funding agreement signed by representatives of the State Chancellory of Moldova, German State Development Bank KfW and Social Investments Fund of Moldova.
In the framework of the first document, Germany will provide 1.5 million euros to Moldova to assist implementation of agricultural projects, development of micro-crediting institutionals to facilitate access to credits for small and medium-sized enterprises, particularly, the funds will be provided to ProCredit Bank in Moldova. The money will also be used to support modernization of utilities, regional development.
The EUR 5 million grant to be provided to Moldova by the German KfW is planned to be used for implementation of projects of water-, gas-, electric power provision in Moldovan villages, building of schools, kindsgartens and roads. Victor Bodiu thanked Germany for the assistance and support provided to Moldova and stressed that it would contribute to development of the Moldovan economy. Friedel Eggelmeier said Germany is ready to continue supporting Moldova for the sustainable development of its economy, especially on the local level and for realization of the national priorities of the country in terms of European integration. The total volume of technical and financial assistance provided to Moldova from Germany starting from 1994 exceeded 40 million euros.
