Ukraine Makes Most Modern Transport Infrastructure in Eastern Europe
OREANDA-NEWS. December 16, 2010. The Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Infrastructure Borys Kolesnykov identified the priority areas of work. "The President of Ukraine has set a very simple task: to create the strongest infrastructure at least in Eastern Europe" - Borys Kolesnykov said.
He noted that in frame of preparation for Euro-2012 Ukraine will have four modern airports. "Problem number one after Euro is Simferopol, Odessa, Zaporizhzhia. We should also restore the infrastructure of the airports, which are not in operation: Lutsk, Poltava and other" - Borys Kolesnykov said.
The Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – the Minister of Infrastructure said that now a contract with "Hyundai" company on high-speed rail traffic creation in Ukraine. "Most likely, it will be signed soon, and already the spring of 2011 Ukrainians will receive quality transportation of European level at affordable Ukrainian prices" - Borys Kolesnykov said.
At the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – the Minister of Infrastructure consent, the most important infrastructure component is the highways. According to him, the involvement of leading European companies will allow to build them with high quality, quickly and with minimal risk of misappropriation of funds. "Roads is a costly, but necessary affair. For all the Ukrainian patching repair there is a good fit saying "avaricious pays twice" - he said. – That is why the roads are to be built. We will engage leading institutes, specialists in design and quality control of Ukraine, Germany, France, Italy, USA. Secondly, we need to select those companies that esteem their reputation: that means there should be competition between those companies that have technical and logistic facilities, management for road construction. The third condition: we must use modern technology; start the road with bio bed, which, worldwide, is laid on sand foundation. This prevents in future from having pits and depreciating assets for patching repair.
Moreover, according to the officials, around the multi-million-strong cities the ring roads will be built – using the principle of the Moscow Ring Road in Russia. "Till Euro 2012 we will do everything possible. First, Kyiv should have a new ring road"- the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Infrastructure said.
Borys Kolesnykov underlined that at the end of January 2011 the first part of the Concept for the highways will be ready.
