OREANDA-NEWS. December 15, 2010. The first regional Business Forum was organized in Aktau city of Mangistau region of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan was represented at the forum by more than 30 companies. The representatives of SOCAR Ecology Department and Ecol Engineering Services attended the forum and gave detailed information about the ecological projects of SOCAR.

The head of Mangistau region, the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan, and the ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan have addressed the opening ceremony of the forum. Mr. Azer Aliyev, the head of SOCAR Ecology Department made a speech on ‘Directions of Ecological Operations of SOCAR’ at the forum. He mentioned in his speech declaration 2010 as the ‘Year of Ecology’ in Azerbaijan as well as ecological projects conducted by SOCAR in this regard.

The Memorandum of Cooperation between SOCAR and Mangistaymunaygaz JSC was also signed at the business forum. The Memo envisages joint research and design works, exchange of normative legal and technical documents, attending seminars, conferences, symposiums, and forums, cooperation on applying cutting edge technologies in oil production and ecological spheres. SOCAR experts visited the oil fields of Mangistaymunaygaz Company. The discussions on solution of current environmental problems were held.
