KAMAZ to Take Part in IV Russian-Indian Forum
OREANDA-NEWS. December 15, 2010. Sergey Kogogin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ, will participate in the IV Russian-Indian Forum on Trade and Investments which will be held in New Delhi on the 20th of December.
The top manager of KAMAZ is a member of the Russian government delegation going to India within the frameworks of the official visit of Dmitry Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation. The high-ranking officials of the both countries will make reports at the plenary meeting of the forum. Round table conferences will be organized to discuss the issues of Russia-India international cooperation, transport and infrastructure, high technologies and innovations development.
KAMAZ plans to expand its external economic activities, also due to its active development of far-abroad markets. This statement has recently been made by Director General of KAMAZ in his interview to the Russia 24 Channel.
India’s capacious, rapidly growing and very promising automobile market is among the first-priority ones for KAMAZ. In February 2010, KAMAZ VECTRA MOTORS LIMITED Indian-Russian Joint Venture was launched. Assembly of KAMAZ vehicles was organized on the production facilities of India’s Vectra Group of Companies in the city of Hosur, the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. To date, KAMAZ-6540 right hand drive vehicles are produced at the JV with full capacity up to 5 thousand vehicles per annum. Regional trade, dealer and service networks cover 80% of the country’s territory.
It should be noted that production had been localized there perfectly well. The JV purchases locally produced units, and India’s KAMAZ vehicles are 71% made of local components. It is planned to master production of KAMAZ-5460 long-haul tractors in the nearest future. These brand new modernized vehicles will also be assembled with the use of many Indian components. Industrial assembly of long-haul tractors will start in 2011.
In close cooperation with Vectra Group of Companies, KAMAZ enters quickly developing segments of India’s automobile market. For the time being, neither European nor Asian companies can offer products at a reasonable price and, at the same time, of high quality there. The Indian producers offer much cheaper products which are, however, limited to vehicles of lower payload and power. The latest tendencies in India’s market show the birth of a new large segment of heavy trucks, including multiaxle trucks, which are expected to be in great demand during the next two or three years. It is exactly this segment where KAMAZ offers its customers high-powered, but affordable trucks which are very popular in the Indian market.
