OREANDA-NEWS. December 15, 2010. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Valerii Lazar said the Agency is to be established in accordance with the Law on Energy Efficiency earlier approved by the Parliament.

The new structure will be created by reorganization of the National Energy Efficiency Agency and will be funded from the state budget and off-budget money as it is practiced in European states. 800 thousand leis will be allocated from the budget for establishment of the Agency. 12 specialists will work at the Agency.

They will be select4ed after the government’s decision about establishment of the Agency is published in the Monitorul Oficial. Minister of Economy stressed that Moldova remains a very energy depending country and it is extremely necessary for it to raise energy efficiency and to reduce its losses, to use the renewable energy sources more and to develop capacities of energy and fuel production from renewable sources.

Valerii Lazar said the Agency for Energy Efficiency would be able to take advantage of different international energy efficiency programs to receive money for these goals from foreign donors.
