OREANDA-NEWS. On 1st January 2011 comes into force No. 326-FZ Federal Law “On Mandatory Medical Insurance in the Russian Federation”, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Due to adopting the law on mandatory insurance, amendments are introduced to Article 18 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”. According to the amendments, starting from 1st January 2011 Article 18 of the law on protection of competition is not applicable to selection of medical insurance organizations that provide mandatory medical insurance. The law on mandatory medical insurance determines specific features of selecting medical insurance organizations for providing services under mandatory medical insurance.

In particular, the law on mandatory medical insurance (Article 16) establishes the right of insured persons to choose a medical insurance organization and the procedures for selecting and changing the insurance organization.
