Shipping Volumes on Russian Railways Jump 9,2% in 2010
OREANDA-NEWS. December 08, 2010. During January - November 2010, 262,185,000 tons of coal were shipped, a 4.9% increase over the same period last year, 1,151,000 tons of coke (+21.2%), 230,665,000 tons of oil and petroleum products (+11.2%), 93,395,000 tons of iron and manganese ores (+7%), 66,235,000 tons of ferrous metals (+12.9 %), 19,263,000 tons of ferrous metal scrap (+27.1%), 41,449,000 tons of chemicals and fertilisers (+17%), 31,395,000 tons of cement (+14%), 38,113,000 tons of timber (+2.8%), 132,664,000 tons of construction materials (+10. 6%) and 16,404,000 tons of containerised cargo (+17.9%), reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.
In November 2010, 103.7 million tons of freight were shipped, an increase of 8.4% on November 2009. Shipments of coke during the month were up 2.4% compared to November 2009, while oil and petroleum products were up by 8.7%, iron and manganese ores by 6.5%, ferrous metals by 10%, ferrous metal scrap by 36.8%, cement by 26.1%, construction goods by 22.2% and containerised cargo by 18.4%.
Cargo turnover in the last 11 months of 2010 rose to 1842.6 billion tariff ton-kilometres, an increase of 8.5%.
Cargo turnover in November 2010 increased by 7.1% to 176.7 billion tariff ton-kilometres.
