OREANDA-NEWS. December 6, 2010. Chairman of JCS FGC UES Management Board Oleg Budargin and Hyundai Heavy Industries CEO Qhe Sik Min signed today in Seoul a Cooperation agreement on implementing intelligent grid. The document was signed within the framework of the official visit of the RF President Dmitry Medvedev to the Republic of Korea and aimed at developing of previously signed Memorandum of understanding to establish long-term cooperation in electric power industry and implementing intelligent grid projects.

Currently JSC FGC UES prepares to implement six pilot projects on developing intelligent grid territorial clusters in Siberia and the Far East. They focused on solving certain problems existing in united energy systems of Siberia and East and suggest mass use of innovative technologies such as high capacity accumulator batteries, reactive power compensators, advanced equipment monitoring and diagnostic systems and other types of innovative equipment. In the course of implementing clusters it is planned to implement new technologies and equipment for the UNEG, develop various technical solutions with their further implementation in other systems.

Within the entered engagement Hyundai Heavy Industries will participate in implementing a number of pilots. In particular the companies intend to design, develop and put into operation new equipment using Hyundai innovative solutions and technologies. Based on pilot implementation results they will consider the possibility of mass production and use of developed technologies.

In addition the parties plan joint activities and participating by agreement in designing and implementing other pilot intelligent grid territorial clusters including on the territory of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Korea.
