Uzbekistan Implements Electronic Document Management Systems
OREANDA-NEWS. December 02, 2010. A press conference dedicated to development and implementation of electronic document management systems and use of digital signature in Uzbekistan was organized by the Uzbek Agency for Communications and Information (UzACI) in Tashkent.
Most government structures currently focus on accelerating introduction of electronic document turnover, it was said at the event. Regional administrations are linked to city and district administrations through corporate networks.
Electronic forms are being extensively used by the State Tax Committee and the State Statistics Committee for information exchange and documentation.
The transition to electronic format of information transfer creates advantages for the population. Government websites allows officials to use interactive communication with citizens.
According to deputy director general of the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information Asadjon Khodjayev, systems providing such services in the country are being constantly improved.
From this year, Sergeli district administration in Tashkent launched a one-stop-shop for provision of public services in an interactive way. Similar shops should soon appear in all districts of Tashkent and in other cities of Uzbekistan.
According to UzACI, 96.7 percent of state bodies of Uzbekistan already have their own websites.
Five digital signature key registration centers currently operate in the country, having issued about 140,000 certificates so far.
Some banks are offering internet banking services, and soon consumers will be able to use the SMS banking service SMS-tulov, which is now being developed.
