OREANDA-NEWS. December 01, 2010. The FSUE “Rosmorport” Kaliningrad branch obtained the permission for commissioning of Kaliningrad sea shipping channel front piers, reported the press-centre of Rosmorport.

The piers of 1.5 km total length were the property of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and required capital repairs by 2006. At the FSUE “Rosmorport” initiative the decision to transfer the piers from the property of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to the enterprise and repair them was made.

As a result of tender procedures a range of contractors were selected for repairs implementation. The repairs of total cost more than 1 billion rubles lasted from August, 2006 till December, 2009. The works were financed from the federal budget.

The commissioning of the reconstructed piers will rise the level of navigation safety in Kaliningrad sea shipping channel.
