Belarus Named among CIS Leaders in Housing Construction
OREANDA-NEWS. November 29, 2010. According to the data provided by Viktor Burya, as of early 2010 housing in Belarus totaled 23.6 square meters per person. In 2009 the housing commissioning was near 600 square meters per thousand persons. About 70,000 flats were constructed. “Today, housing indexes of Belarus are the best among the CIS members,” Viktor Burya said.
The dynamics of housing construction over the recent five years shows sustainable growth. While in 2005 housing commissioning stood at 3.8 million square meters, in 2009 it totaled 5.75 million square meters. This year some 6.96 million square meters of housing are planned to be commissioned, that is 1.84 times more than in 2005.
In 2006-2010 housing construction in Belarus totaled about 26.6 million square meters. The figure meets the forecasts for the five year term, said Viktor Burya.
He added that in January-October 2010, some Br41.1 trillion of fixed capital investments was allotted to the social and economic development of Belarus that is up 11.5% in comparable prices on the same period 2009. Some Br21.2 trillion (or 51.6% percent of the amount) was allocated for construction and assembly works.
