OREANDA-NEWS. November 26, 2010. Two United Metallurgical Company (OMK) entities, Vyksa Steel Works (VSW, Nizhni Novgorod Region) and Trubodetal (Chelyabinsk Region), have received medals awarded by the Metal-Expo’2010, the 16th International Industrial Exhibition that was held in Moscow, reported the press-centre of OMK.

VSW was awarded the Gold Medal for the development and production of electric-welded longitudinal steel pipes designed for main and subsea pipelines. VSW received the Metal-Expo Silver Medal for the development and production of electric-welded longitudinal casing pipes with compatible couplings having VSW-1 gas-proof threaded connection. Trubodetal was awarded the Silver Medal for the development and production of HFC bent elbows (made using high-frequency currents) rated for working pressures reaching 11.8 MPa for the Bovanenkovo–Ukhta gas pipeline.

In the recent 5 years, according to OMK President Vladimir Markin, domestic pipe companies achieved a real technological breakthrough and became even more competitive. Large-scale investment in the sector resulted in the modernization of existing facilities and the industrial production of unique innovative products that are second to none and often exceed foreign equivalent products in quality, which was acknowledged by the high Metal-Expo awards.

OMK and its entities are regular participants of the Metal-Expo Exhibition and repeatedly received the highest awards for their products. This year, the Exhibition participants included more than 600 companies from 30 countries.
