Aeroexpress and Sheremetyevo Optimise Service System
OREANDA-NEWS. November 25, 2010. Aeroexpress and Sheremetyevo International Airport optimise the service system for passengers travelling between Belorussky Railway Station and Sheremetyevo Airport.
To increase the number of passenger seats and improve the service quality Aeroexpress will start re-equipping the luggage vans into the passenger coaches in December 2010. In this connection, the registration of air passengers with luggage at Belorussky Railway Station ends on December 1. The registration of air passengers with carry-on luggage will last till December 10, 2010. After that, such service will be available only through the self-service kiosks which will be installed instead of former check-in counters. At the same time, all the coaches of high-speed trains will be equipped with additional comfortable luggage shelves.
The novelty is connected with a steep increase in the number of passengers who choose comfortable express trains to get to Sheremetyevo Airport. Thus, about 2.9 million passengers have used the company’s services on the Belorussky Railway Station - Sheremetyevo Airport line that is 160% more than in the similar period of 2009. At the same time, the service of luggage registration in the city terminal is not very popular – the number of passengers who check in at Belorussky Railway Station is less than 2.5% of the total passenger traffic of Aeroexpress.
The experience of railway carriers operating in the largest international airports shows that the service of luggage registration in the city terminals is not popular and so not provided. At the same time, the increasing number of passengers prefers the self-registration that will be taken into account in the course of terminal re-equipment at Belorussky Railway Station.
