OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2010. SOCAR President Mr. Rovnag Abdullayev received the delegation led by former German Foreign Minister Mr. Hans-Dietrich Genscher. By welcoming the guest, Mr. Abdullayev expressed his gratitude to meet Mr. Hans-Dietrich Genscher.

By expressing his gratitude for reception, Mr. Hans-Dietrich Genscher mentioned great development processes in Azerbaijan. He noted he witnessed rapid economic growth, which impressed him very much. Besides, by touching the economic relations between Germany and Azerbaijan, the diplomat pointed out great opportunities for development of relations in energy sector, as well as Azerbaijan’s role in energy security of Europe.

SOCAR President emphasized the achievements of oil strategy which was founded by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and has been successfully continuing under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev. By noting the increase in gas production as the result of the independent development of the fields by SOCAR within “Shahdeniz”, “Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli” projects, SOCAR President mentioned that Azerbaijan supports “South Stream” project and current gas pipeline options are seriously considered by the Company.

Afterwards, German representatives were presented memorial gifts by the Company. The event was attended by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Germany and German Ambassador to Azerbaijan.
