Yanukovych Will Respond to Protests of Businessmen against Tax Code
OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2010. President Viktor Yanukovych will respond to the protests of businessmen against the adoption of the Tax Code, he said today, answering questions at the press conference in Brussels.
"I have always responded to any questions of the public. And I will surely respond in that case", he said, adding also that he will have to wait for an expert opinion on the law first.
He also announced his intention to meet with representatives of the protestors. "This particular conversation, I think, will be held this week, and we will reach the answer during it," Viktor Yanukovych said.
The President expressed the opinion that there is a lot of politics in the rallies going on, which has become a common practice in Ukraine in recent years. "Certainly, I would like any issue that we consider to be put on public debate first and decisions taken based on it," the Head of State added.
According to Viktor Yanukovych, the continuing discussion around the Tax Code confirms that it is necessary to choose priorities uniting most citizens, and these priorities can be determined only by the Ukrainian nation. "I will, of course, hear them out; I will meet with representatives of the NGOs that have organized this movement," he said.
The Head of State noted that he understands the demands of entrepreneurs, but they cannot be satisfied fully. "We will be gradually abandoning the simplified (taxation) system, and moving towards a system of taxation that would motivate growth of real economy, the one that would bring the Ukrainian economy from the shadows," he said, adding that those who are taxed by the simplified system will get additional motivators.
However, he said, they must be prepared for "the times, when we switch to real accounting”. “And we will switch to it", Viktor Yanukovych said.
