OREANDA-NEWS. November 23, 2010. E-University, the IBA e-learning software platform, participates in a pilot project on implementation of online distant education in Belarusian high schools, reported the press-centre of IBA.

The pilot project is launched by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the National Institute of Education to evaluate the possibility of using distant learning in Belarusian educational institutions and to choose the best system for online education.

On October 22, the seminar “Testing of modern information and communication technologies and electronic learning tools in educational institutions” was held in Minsk, Belarus. At the workshop, high school teachers learned to use the systems of distant education that participate in the project, namely:

Moodle, a freeware
e-University, developed by IBA
SharePointLMS, developed by BelITSoft.
In addition, every participant received a tutorial manual developed both for teachers and students.

Senior students of schools, lyceums, and gymnasiums in Ditva, Gomel, Luzhesniany, Minsk, Mogilev, Novogrudok, Slutsk, and Vitebsk will be the first to test the distant education systems.

Before the project start, IBA deployed e-University and ported study materials to the corporate server. The study materials may be used for:

Training of the students that participate in the pilot project

Self-tuition for knowledge check

Forming a database of learning content to be available for teachers and students

During the project, teachers will keep project participant records, conduct testing of the students, and evaluate the systems of e-learning according to certain criteria. As a result, the system that gathers more positive references will be recommended for implementation in high schools of Belarus. The project completion is scheduled for the end of this year.
