OREANDA-NEWS. November 22, 2010. In 2011 the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM will start localizing production of equipment for nuclear power plants in India in the framework of the Russian-Indian cooperation in the peaceful uses of atomic energy, Sergey Kirienko, the head of ROSATOM said.
 
He said India was ready to engage Russia in construction of a substantial number of nuclear power units in the country (up to sixteen). In the framework of these projects, a substantial part of equipment will be manufactured at local enterprises, S. Kirienko added.
 
Negotiations on localization are actively progressing, with 3-4 large corporations of India viewed as potential candidates.
 
“This year we select partners and already next year we will have to make related decisions and start launching localization of production of the broadest range of component parts and equipment for nuclear power units,” the head of ROSATOM said.
 
“Our specialists are actively visiting production facilities, studying equipment and how the work and quality control are organized. This is not just negotiations in the office already, but the work on the production site,” he emphasized.
