Turkmenistan Welcomes World Oil and Gas Business
OREANDA-NEWS. November 18, 2010. 15th International Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2010” opens in Ashgabat.
The 15th International Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2010” organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan has opened at the Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat today. This anniversary forum once again vividly evidences the fact that Turkmenistan, which successfully implements its energy strategy aimed at mutually advantageous international cooperation, arouses a greater interest of world oil and gas business with every passing year.
The international exhibition, which is held each year and attended by foreign participants who steadily increase in number, is to showcase impressive achievements of the dynamically growing production potential of the domestic fuel and energy sector as well as facilitate intensifying mutually advantageous partnership between Turkmen enterprises and leading foreign companies which could offer advanced technologies and profound expertise in implementing large-scale investment oil and gas projects.
The expositions of the Turkmengaz State Concern, the Turkmenneft State Concern, the Turkmenhimiya State Concern, the Turkmennebitgazgurlusik State Concern, the Turkmengeologiya Corporation, the Turkmenbashi oil refineries and other industrial enterprises will showcase the capabilities of Turkmen oil and gas sector.
The foreign visitors’ pavilions will represent over 160 companies from dozens of countries and international organisations, including the European Union countries, the United States, Turkey, China, UAE, Japan, the republic of Korea, Russia, Kazakhstan and other countries. Their expositions will present latest technologies, developments and state-of-the-art equipment applied in various fields, including hydrocarbon exploration and production, field facilities construction, transportation, storage and processing of oil and gas, services and other types of oil and gas business.
Both long-term partners, who have been operating successfully in Turkmenistan for many years, and many ‘newcomers’, who just explore the very promising oil and gas market in our country, intend to foster mutually advantageous cooperation in the implementation of the programme for fuel and energy sector development in Turkmenistan.
New potential partners will attend a special seminar focusing on the important issues of legislation and taxation in the oil and gas sector of our country will be conducted by Dewey & Leboeuf and PricewaterhouseCoopers on November 17. International experts and Turkmen specialists will make presentations on the specificities and benefits of the investment climate, vast opportunities and priority forms of international cooperation provided to foreign investors by laws of Turkmenistan.
An introductory workshop will become some kind of prologue to the 15th International Conference “Oil and Gas industry of Turkmenistan: the present day, the prospects for development and international cooperation”," which will open at the Exhibition Centre on November 18. The co-organizers of the conference are the Ministry of Oil and gAs Industry and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan and the British company Summit Trade Events Ltd.
This year, the largest international forum will be attended by about 700 delegates, including heads, top managers and specialists of leading foreign companies, experts of Turkmen oil and gas enterprises, diplomats accredited in Turkmenistan, journalists. 33 foreign specialized periodicals and publishing houses provide the information support for the international conference.
Foreign guests represent oil and gas companies and organisations from 35 countries worldwide. Over 60 speakers and guests of honour at the conference include the Minister of Energy of the United Arab Emirates, the representatives of the European Commission, the U.S. Department of State, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway and the heads of leading foreign oil companies.
According to the Organizing Committee, the versatile programme of the anniversary forum will cover important aspects of priority vectors of development of Turkmen oil and gas sector, investment opportunities, geological prospecting, discovery, evaluation and exploration of oil and gas resources of the country, market access and international cooperation as a catalyst for international oil and gas trade in Eurasia.
During the conference government officials and heads of the fuel and energy departments of Turkmenistan will make presentations on the major aspects of the energy strategy of the Turkmen state and provide an overview of ongoing and future projects in the oil and gas and chemical industries to foreign guests.
The conference will provide a platform for a detailed and lively dialogue about Turkmenistan’s role in developing hydrocarbon resources of the Caspian Sea, the possibilities for cooperation with foreign investors, the existing potential of mutually advantageous partnership in exploration and development of on-land deposits, hydrocarbon extraction and processing as well as for discussing various options for transit of oil and gas from Turkmenistan to world markets.
The topics to be discussed at the forum will include application of international standards and advanced technologies to ensure effective development of oil and gas fields as well as promote refining and petrochemical industries as the priority sectors for foreign investments.
Specialists of leading foreign companies will share their experience in implementing investment projects on the Turkmen oil and gas market, make presentations of the possibilities for introducing latest industry technologies and put forward new business proposals.
In general, the 15th anniversary exhibition and conference in Ashgabat will become an opportunity to harmonize short-range plans for expansion and intensification of activity in the oil and gas industry, exchange experiences and expand economic relations between Turkmenistan and countries of the Eurasian continent, promote an increase in foreign Investments in Turkmen economy and enhance competitiveness of domestic producers on world energy markets.
