OREANDA-NEWS. November 18, 2010. President of Yakutia Yegor Borisov said. “When approving the development pattern -2020 at the level of the RF Government, we determined that it was necessary to develop the private-public partnership in the territory of the republic. We also determined that we would develop the infrastructure — roads, power lines, communications at the expense of the state”, Ye. Borisov said to the Interfax-Far East agency on Tuesday.

The President of Yakutia took part in the meeting of the council for attraction of foreign investments conducted by Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Viktor Ishayev.

According to the republic head, major projects in the republic will be financed with the participation of state budget and investors. “Among those there are uranium ore extraction projects, development of uranium ore and apatite deposits. Starting with 2011 we’ll begin to involve our foreign partners in these projects”, he mentioned. Ye.Borisov also added that South Yalutia development projects are the most attractive for the foreigners. In particular, the iron ore extraction project in the territory of Neryungrin and Aladan districts provides for production of up to 40 mln tons of ore per year.

“Besides, today the issues concerning the filling of the ESPO pipeline with raw material are being actively negotiated. We have to ensure development of all deposits adjacent to the oil pipe, and we also need some investments for this purpose”, the President of the republic said.

He emphasized that over USD 1 bln of investments had been attracted to the republic diamond-mining industry alone. The republic authorities are planning to increase the volume of oil extraction up to 10 mln tons in three years (as compared with today’s 3 mln tons), and in the future – up to 50 mln tons.

Yakutia occupies the second place among the Far Eastern Federal District regions in terms of the volume of foreign investments. The republic share in the volume of foreign investments in the Far Eastern Federal District is 13.3%.
